I don’t know about you, but I am a total sucker for a made-for-tv movies this time of year. Straight-to-DVD ones also tend to deliver, when you’re looking for sappy, syrupy, and sugary sweet (which I am).
Don’t get me wrong, I also ADORE the usual family favourites like Frosty the Snowman, Elf, The Grinch, etc. But this list is for those sentimental Holiday flicks oft overlooked.
Since I don’t have cable, I can only make recommendations based on what’s available to me via Netflix, download, or streaming (and even that is limited by geographic restrictions…). So if you have some suggestions that I missed, feel free to leave them in the comments below!
Christmas? Check. Re-mixed Christmas carols? Check. Vocal training montage? Check.
Must Be Santa
This movie is so good. For reals. It’s got the great elements of magic and fantasy, with just a touch of reality, and a hint of romance. Bonus: It’s Canadian!
The classic tale of the pretty, young, clueless gal stealing away the handsome gentleman from his decently attractive, successful, career-oriented-but-not-particularly-nurturing girlfriend. The feminist in me wants to hate this storyline…and yet, here we are.
See the above description. Throw in the fact that the younger romantic option in this triangle LOVES Christmas, and the older one is a bit of a Grinch.
Christina Milian as an adorable PR executive who just needs to get her priorities straight!
What? Christina Milian again? You know it. This gal LOVES Christmas. (Almost as much as me!)
So, what good ones have you seen so far this year?
