A Nova Scotia Staycation: The South Shore

With limited funds for travel this summer, I decided to keep my summer holiday destination local. Besides, I’m going on my fourth year in Halifax and I’ve still barely scratched the surface on all that Nova Scotia has to offer.

We lucked out with a bit of good weather and travelled across the South Shore to Liverpool, up past Kejimkujik, and then turned back East across the Annapolis Valley. It was a wonderful trip.

The fog was setting in (or we had caught up to it) by the time we arrived at our evening destination: Blueberry Bay Seaside Inn, just outside of Liverpool.

Folks, this was a fantastic B&B; just bursting with charm and hospitality. The room was great, the view (sans fog) was breathtaking, and the food was delicious. (They even accommodated my super annoying food allergies with no problem!)

  1. i love Chester and Mahone bay- also we had a staycation too! NS DOES have fantastic things to offer 🙂 And- that B&B looks gorgeous!! definitely keep it in mind 🙂

  2. Love the pics, and B&B’s! I love getting away to Guysborough when I can, and then the itty bitty small town 40 mins past there where my fiance grew up, right on the coast. There’s something about these small towns that leave your heart feeling full.

    • I’ve only been to Guysborough once- stayed at the DesBarres Manor. It was so nice. The views around the water were spectacular. …I should really plan a trip back, come to think of it!

  3. Great site you have here but I was wondering if
you knew of any community forums that cover the same
topics talked about here? I’d really love to be a part
of community where I can get feedback from other experienced people that share the same interest.
If you have any suggestions, please let me know.

    Thanks!
